I used to got to Anaheed's Bellydance Swapmeets in the Valley when I lived in L.A. They were a great place to find cool costume supplies inexpensively as dancers brought what they didn't want and sold it to buy what they wanted.
So, I am putting together a Bellydance Swapmeet for Sunday, April 27th, in Placerville, before the Brothers of the Baladi show. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
My plan is to have dancers bring whatever they no longer want - costumes, skirts, coverups, hip scarves, whatever they want to sell. I want to keep it by dancers for dancers, so no large commercial vendors.
Cost for vending space would be very minimal - $5 to $10 max. You would probably need to bring your own table, but I am looking into that.
The Swapmeet would be walking distance to the Brothers of the Baladi show at Cozmic Cafe where I am performing, along with Namira, Salome, and Cintia.

Unfortunately, the venue I was contemplating that was walking distance won't work. So, I am going to use my dance studio which is still very close, but you will need to drive between the venues.

Thu, March 20, 2008 - 11:27 PMSounds good, Namira. There should be dancers from all over No. Cal. there, so the market will hopefully be strong. Right now, vending space is $10 to help pay for the studio rental.
However, if we get 8 vendors, and that includes me as one of them, then we'll drop the cost down to only $5!!
So far, we have three vendors, but the word has just gotten out . . . so . . . pass it on!
